Pimpompul
The name of our picturesque holiday home is a tribute to ourroots in the pearl of the Flemish Ardennes. "Pimpompul" comes from the Oudenaarde dialect and means "ladybird". This cheerful little beetle is a worldwide symbol of happiness, peace and freedom, values that are perfectly suited to a carefree stay in our charming home.
pimpompul" is probably a variant of "papeljoentje", a name used in Flanders for all kinds of flying insects and derived from the French word for butterfly. But the ladybird is not just any insect. It occupies a special place in our hearts. Unlikemany other insects, it inspires no fear - even children like to let it crawl on their hands. Farmers and gardeners see this little beetle as an ally in the fight against aphids and as a protector of their crops. With its striking red colour and black spots, this little beetle is also a cheerful harbinger of summer. A "pimpompulleke" not only brings joy, but also a sense of connection with nature.
